Class Hugo had lots of fun in class during our ‘Safer Internet Day’.
We read e-safety books, discussing good choices and then we completed lots of activities linked to building our knowledge of technology and staying safe online.
In class Hugo, we are beginning to follow Pie Corbett’s - Talk for Writing in our literacy sessions. Our book for the term is - The Magic Porridge Pot.
At the start of the topic, the children were shown a magical porridge pot. They took turns to stir, smell and describe the porridge. Next we recited words from the story to make the porridge grow bigger and bigger. We added sugar (bicarbonate soda) and syrup (vinegar) and just like magic, the porridge bubbled and grew!
Next we made some salt dough bowls for the porridge, before enjoying some messy play with oats!
All of the children showed high levels of enthusiasm! A great start to the topic!
Well done all!
In lower school our new topic is Ecosystems and encouraging more wildlife in our school grounds. During immersion week lots of interesting and interactive activities were rotated in and out of the classrooms.
In lower school classes took part in a P4C session using the book One World by Michael Foreman as a stimulus. They talked about ‘ not taking too much from nature’ and ‘looking after our world’. Recycling and conservation were topics also discussed. Pupils then wrote their own eco-pledge for the term and added it our our school pledge hog. We hope to help the environment and encourage more wildlife in our local environment by sticking to our pledges.
