We are seeking to appoint full time teaching assistant in a fixed term position at this popular and successful, all age special school.  You will be required to support our diverse range of learners in all areas of the curriculum and adapt your approach to suit their needs. The position is an exciting opportunity to work across key stages 1, 2, 3 and 4 to support the implementation of our new curriculum and catch up strategy. 

Hazel Oak is an outstanding learning environment, with pupils who have a spectrum of needs including Autism, ADHD, Downs Syndrome, social, emotional and behavioural challenges and a range of personal care and medical needs. The successful candidate will gain a wealth of experience working flexibly in different areas of school.

Staff are actively involved in the school’s development and have access to regular training and peer support. We advocate a growth mindset and a positive outlook to support the development and self-esteem of our students across the age ranges.

We are seeking to appoint a full-time teacher at this popular and successful, all-age special school.  You will be required to deliver across the curriculum and adapt your teaching to suit the needs of our learners. The post is within our primary department with younger mixed age primary students. Over 50% learners at Hazel Oak have a diagnosis of Autism, so a working knowledge of how this impacts on teaching and learning would be a valuable asset. 

Hazel Oak is a school for moderate learning difficulties with a diverse community of additional needs which also includes ADHD, Down Syndrome, social, emotional and mental health, plus more complex and medical needs. Communication, life skills and functional use of core skills are central to our curriculum, which is delivered in a challenged based, blended approach.

The successful applicant will also have opportunities to develop their pedagogy through collaborative team working to create inspiring schemes to offer bespoke experiences for all learners. The primary teaching model works across key stages 1 to 3 and the same collaborative approach is applied to accreditation teaching and learning in key stages 4 and 5. Whilst staff are based with a class group, they may be required to work across the age ranges. 

We are an outstanding School, where staff are fully involved in the school’s development and have access to regular training and peer support. Teachers receive group planning time to support the delivery of our exciting, life skills driven curriculum. As we move past the COVID world, we are launching a new curriculum for September to reflect the changing needs of our students and the new world around them.
